Аннотация:
Авторы рассматривают борьбу населения США против строительства нефтепровода Дакота Эксесс в 2014-2017 гг. В противостоянии крупным корпорациям, непосредственно связанным с правительством США, сложился союз индейцев различных племен, экологов, ветеранов вооруженных сил США. В судебной тяжбе со строившим нефтепровод Инженерным корпусом армии США индейцы ссылались на договоры, заключенные между правительством США и племенами, как суверенными нациями и отдававшими спорные территории племенам сиу. В своем решении суд упоминал важность этих договоров, но принял решение, исходя из посылки, что эти земли принадлежат частным владельцам. Наряду с подачей иска, индейцы развернули постоянный лагерь для протестующих против нефтепровода. Законные мирные протесты индейцев жестко подавлялись. Движение, начинавшееся как борьба индейцев резервации племени сиу Стэндинг Рок против одной стройплощадки, превратилось в многотысячный долговременный протест, объединивший различные группы населения США и получивший глобальный отклик.
